Hi, homeowners.

We haven’t talked in a while, but I think it’s time to change that — I miss you.

I still remember the first time you checked out this house for sale. You weren’t sold on the house until you saw me. It really was love at first sight … you remember, don’t you?

I remember that day. My water was sparkling more than it has in years, my deck was perfectly clear of debris and cracks, and the furniture on my deck was beckoning you and your partner to come enjoy my refreshing area of the home. Sold! The house needed some work, sure. But I, the pool, sealed the deal and you were coming home to me.

Since then, we’ve had our ups and downs. The two of you used to come outside and spend time with me every day. You worked hard to clean off my deck, make sure my chemicals were at the right levels, and make sure there wasn’t any debris floating around. Let me tell you — those were the good days.

Or so I thought.

Then you made a little human and it got even better! She got to experience my glorious water herself! I loved when you first brought her out to me and she splashed around for the first time. It’s a treasured memory for all of us, and I think back to it often. All growing up, she and her siblings and friends would throw huge parties in the backyard where I was the center of attention. I thought this was as good as it gets — and I thought it would always stay that way.

But you got busier and didn’t spend as much time with me. I missed you! Then a tree root found its way under my deck and cracked my once-smooth surface. It’s all been downhill since then. You didn’t even get me properly ready for winter this last time around, and you only spent time with me once last year.

I can’t help but think all of you aren’t spending time with me because of my now-cracked surface and uneven areas. It’s not my fault, though! It’s the soil beneath me. I wish I could fix this myself so you would come and spend time with me again.

Homeowner, I miss you. I want to spend time with you this summer. Let’s patch up the injuries and move past this.
