Testimonials

I had a large issue in the driveway of my home. Multiple cracks. It sounded hollowed as you stomp on it in multiple areas. WHAT THEY DID:  They filled up the gaps inside. They repaired superficial cracks very well. They brought up the issue of how rain water could be coming under my driveway and causing more cracks in the future.

Just wanted to let you know that Josh and Nathan came today to take care of our driveway issues. They both did an excellent job in a very professional manner. We will definitely recommend A-1 Concrete Leveling to our friends here, should they have need of such services! Thanks again for your help and Deanne's help in resolving our driveway issues.

We needed part of our front sidewalk leveled, and also porch stairs. Rhett was on time for the estimate and thorougly explained what had to be done, and how it would be done. No rush, willing to answer any questions at all. They called and had an earlier opening than promised so we got it done even sooner than we had hoped. Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable.

I know I had a lot of questions and I appreciated your patience. Your crew did a great job! I walked/crawled around before they left and it was exactly as I expected. The contractors I’ve hired so far for various projects cut a lot of corners and I wouldn’t hire any of them again. I’m glad Luis recommended A1. I will recommend you to anyone looking for foundation work as well.

We Give Back

First things first: we give back! As a concrete company in Nashville, we understand the role businesses play in taking care of the environment. We’re not ignorant of the fact that our machinery and more take their toll. So, to help offset this, we’re committed to donating 1% of revenues toward sound environmental initiatives. When you schedule concrete floor leveling or any other service with us, you’re a partner in this endeavor.

We Use Natural Products

When you’re trying to get that smooth concrete floor, you have a few options. Most companies will either rip out the concrete and pour new concrete (which is both costly and wasteful) or use polyurethane foam during concrete raising (which is bad for the environment). We use an environmentally friendly limestone grout for concrete lifting, and it’s pretty obvious why.

Why is limestone better?

We like to think of it as replacing earth with more earth! Whether it’s driveway repair, leveling a basement floor, sidewalk leveling, or concrete floor leveling for any other purpose, limestone grout is a better alternative to polyurethane foam:

  • Earth-based product – When new concrete is poured, limestone is the base. If it’s already the perfect material, then why mess with a good thing? This makes it just right for filling voids, reestablishing the base, and lifting sunken concrete.
  • No added weight to the base – Some will argue in favor of polyurethane foam because limestone is “too heavy” and adds too much weight to the base. We have more than 30 years of experience with concrete floor leveling, and we can guarantee that this is a non-issue.
  • Smooth, easy spread – Our limestone grout flows smoothly, resulting in evenly filling the voids under your concrete slab.
  • Easy to control the concrete lifting – Speaking of limestone’s flow, we can change the flowability and viscosity of the material instantly. This allows us to control the concrete lifting process perfectly while not permitting the limestone to overreact or over-expand.
  • Versatile injection options – This material is versatile! Our concrete contractors can inject it through 1-inch or ⅝-inch holes, allowing us to get what’s just right for your concrete floor leveling.
  • Doesn’t attract infestation – In more than 20 years of doing concrete floor leveling with our limestone grout, we’ve never seen any evidence of infestation.
  • Permanent – Finally, it’s a permanent solution — which is something every Nashville homeowner is looking for. The limestone grout will set and harden under the slap and will be completely permanent barring any ground erosion underneath it.

Why is polyurethane foam bad?

So, now you know all the benefits of using limestone grout for concrete floor leveling. What’s so bad about polyurethane foam, though? Here are the top reasons we’re concerned about this alternative for concrete lifting:

  • Chemical-based material – The chemicals used cannot be washed off, are toxic individually and unless precisely mixed, and can easily spill due to loose connections, bad O-rings, or worn tools.
  • Limited spread of material – Foam sets very quickly. While this may sound like a good thing, it’s actually a problem because sinking slabs are usually never well-distributed underground. You can’t see it, but there will be peaks and valleys the foam needs to get into — and this is unlikely with how fast polyurethane foam sets.
  • Hard to control the concrete lifting – With moisture, foam reacts and expands quickly. It’s far too easy to over-lift a concrete slab when using polyurethane foam and concrete replacement then becomes the only option.
  • Limited injection options – Polyurethane foam can only be injected through ⅝-inch holes. This can work for some projects, but it isn’t an option for more detailed work or larger slabs.
  • Risk of infestation – There have been many documented instances of infestation when using polyurethane foam for concrete floor leveling.
  • Permanent (kind of) – This alternative for concrete raising is just as effective as limestone grout in that it’s permanent unless there’s further erosion underneath. However, it often adheres to the slab and makes additional concrete lifting impossible without causing damage. So, if the ground does erode, then it’s more costly and difficult to repair in the future.
